Arriving in San Diego on Friday night at nearly the witching hour, we found ourselves with an enthusiastic Leif - excited to see his grandparents for a second weekend in a row and not at all aware of the lateness in our arrival.
On Saturday evening, Kris, Gretchen, Karin, Devon, Amy, and Ryan went to an outdoor Bob Dylan Concert - great performance, bad sound mixer. Much thanks to Jim for babysitting and making Leif laugh and coo all night!
Sunday morning brought us Leif's first experience with watermelon - after which we pondered hosing the kid off. Instead, Leif had his first "shower". We then drove out to the La Jolla Cove in hopes of snorkeling. Too bad we weren't aware that La Jolla Rough Water Swim Challenge was occurring - no amateur swimming or snorkeling allowed. Instead, we opted to go down to Seashell Beach for some fun in the sun. Among other things, Leif did better in the water this time; Gretchen's bikini top broke, and Kris was advised by lifeguards to stop swimming in the rip current!
